SpiceJet has secured the responsibility to operate Haj flights in 2025 from Kolkata, Guwahati, Srinagar, and Gaya. The airline is set to facilitate the travel of approximately 15,500 pilgrims, an increase of 18 per cent compared to the 13,000 pilgrims who traveled in 2024. This growth reflects the rising demand for well-organized pilgrimage services.
The airline plans to operate over 100 special flights for this purpose, employing both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft to accommodate the needs of travelers. In previous Haj operations, SpiceJet deployed wide-body Airbus A340 aircraft with seating capacities of 324 passengers, ensuring efficient and comfortable journeys for pilgrims. The 2025 operations are expected to build on this foundation with enhanced arrangements aimed at improving the travel experience.
Haj flights are a critical component of ensuring that pilgrims have safe, reliable, and accessible options for their journey. These special operations involve extensive planning, coordination, and execution to meet the specific needs of travelers undertaking this spiritual expedition.
Last year’s Haj operations proved to be highly successful for SpiceJet, generating a substantial revenue of INR 337 Crore. With the induction of the A340 aircraft, the airline aims to replicate and surpass this success in the current year’s operations, the airline said in a statement. The first phase of these operations is scheduled to commence on May 9, 2024, with flights to Medina.
